CM Pramod Sawant Pushes ‘Green Goa, Clean Goa’ Drive, Urges Swayampurna Mitras to Lead 90-Day Campaign

Panaji, Goa — Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant virtually interacted with Swayampurna Mitras, nodal officers, panchayat representatives, and grassroots functionaries on, to galvanize efforts for the State’s 90-day ‘Green Goa, Clean Goa’ campaign. The drive draws inspiration from Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative.[date]Addressing functionaries across Goa, Dr. Sawant said the 90-day campaign aims to combine environmental sustainability with cleanliness at the village level. He called on Swayampurna Mitras and panchayat representatives to mobilize communities for large-scale tree plantation and waste management activities in their respective wards and panchayats.“‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ is a tribute to mothers and Mother Earth. Every Swayampurna Mitra must ensure maximum participation. Planting trees and keeping Goa clean is a collective responsibility,” the CM said during the virtual session.

Officials reviewed progress of pre-campaign preparations, targets for sapling distribution, identification of plantation sites, and coordination mechanisms between panchayats and line departments. Nodal officers were directed to monitor daily progress and submit reports to ensure the 90-day targets are met.Swayampurna Mitras, who act as bridges between government schemes and citizens at the grassroots, were urged to lead awareness drives, involve self-help groups, students, and local clubs, and make the campaign a people’s movement.The ‘Green Goa, Clean Goa’ campaign will run for 90 days with a focus on increasing green cover, improving waste segregation, and maintaining public spaces across rural and urban Goa. Panchayats have been asked to identify barren land, school compounds, and community areas for plantation drives under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ theme.Senior officials from the Directorate of Panchayats, Forest Department, and Directorate of Municipal Administration also joined the virtual interaction.
