Mhaje Ghar’ scheme is for original Goans, not migrants, asserts CM Sawant

PANAJI: (Jun 4) “Confusion” is being created about the Goa government’s ‘Mhaje Ghar’ scheme that it is meant to regularise houses of “migrants”, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Thursday.

Speaking at an event in Margao where certificates of ownership under this scheme were distributed, Sawant reiterated that the initiative solely aims to regularise the houses of the “original Goans”.

“There is still confusion being created. I was asked by a journalist yesterday whether this scheme was aiming to regularise the houses of migrants? The scheme regularises ancestral homes that were built before 1972. They are original Goans who have been living in Goa,” he said.
