No place for defectors in Goa Congress, says state unit chief
PANAJI: (Jun 2) It’s battling rebellions since 2019 and struggling to revive its truncated base amid the BJP’s dominance, but the Congress in Goa has vowed to slam the door on the entry of defectors ahead of the 2027 assembly elections.
Newly-appointed state unit Congress president Girish Chodankar on Tuesday said certain sections are spreading rumours that he would re-induct the defectors.
“I would like to reiterate that we will not admit any defector back into the party. This has been our stand since the 2022 assembly elections, and it remains so,” said Chodankar, who recently replaced Amit Patkar as the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president.
