Calangute: A clinical 17th-minute strike from Jovito Fernandes proved decisive as Calangute Association SC edged past XtraPal SC 1-0 in a tense semi-final of the 2nd Siolim Villagers Cup at Siolim grounds on Thursday.

Jovito Fernandes latched onto a through ball from midfield, beat the offside trap, and slotted home past the advancing keeper to give Calangute the early breakthrough .

XtraPal SC responded with high pressing in the second half and looked threatening on the counter, but Calangute’s backline marshalled by their center-backs stayed compact and disciplined.
