Calangute MLA Reviews Road Damage Near Arpora Temple; Resurfacing Work to Begin Soon

CALANGUTE, May 23 2026 — Calangute MLA on Thursday inspected the road stretch near Chauranginath Temple, Arpora, that was damaged during the laying of the 33kV connectivity line from the Calangute Power Station to the Badem Substation.The underground cable work had left portions of the busy stretch uneven and potholed, causing inconvenience to residents and tourists using the route.

Locals had raised concerns over dust, traffic slowdowns, and safety risks, especially for two-wheeler riders.Following the site inspection, the MLA assured that restoration and resurfacing works will be taken up shortly.

“The 33kV line is crucial for strengthening power supply to Calangute and Badem. Now that the cabling work is done, our priority is to restore the road quickly for smoother and safer commuting,” the MLA said.

PWD officials present during the inspection said estimates for the repair work are being finalised and resurfacing will commence within the next few days.

The stretch serves as a key link for residents of Arpora-Nagoa and tourists heading to the beach belt.The MLA added that all infrastructure works in the constituency are being monitored to ensure minimum public inconvenience and timely completion ahead of the monsoon. Panchayat members and local residents were present during the inspection.
