Goa Cricket Association Warns Against Fraudulent Selection Message Circulating on Social Media
PANAJI: The Goa Cricket Association has come across a misleading and fraudulent message being circulated on social media and WhatsApp groups claiming selection opportunities for U-19, U-23 and Ranji Trophy cricket as “guest players” from Goa in exchange for money.
The message asks players and parents to contact a particular mobile number and make payments for registrations and match opportunities. The Goa Cricket Association would like to categorically clarify that the association has no connection whatsoever with the individual or the mobile number mentioned in the circulated message.
The association does not authorize any person or agent to collect money from players for selections, registrations or participation in official cricket tournaments. All official trials, selections and registrations are conducted only through authorized communication channels of the Goa Cricket Association.
The Goa Cricket Association also reiterates that its entire selection process is fair, transparent and strictly based on merit and performance. No player can secure selection in any team through monetary payments or outside influence.
GCA President Mahesh Dessai said that the association has a strong and transparent system in place for player selections and urged cricketers and parents not to entertain any unofficial communication or monetary demands made in the name of the association.
GCA Secretary Tulsidas Shetye appealed to players and parents to remain alert and immediately report any such suspicious messages or calls to the association. He emphasized that all selections are conducted purely on merit, performance and recommendations of the official selection committees.
Parents, players and the general public are requested not to fall prey to such fraudulent messages or pay any money to unknown persons claiming to represent the association.
The matter is being viewed seriously and appropriate action will be initiated against those involved in spreading false and misleading information.
For any official information related to cricket activities in Goa, players and parents are advised to verify details only through official communication issued by the Goa Cricket Association.
