Bicholim: In pursuance of the deliberations held during the District Disaster Management Authority meeting chaired by the Collector & District Magistrate, North Goa on 08/04/2026, and the subsequent taluka-level coordination meeting on pre-monsoon preparedness and public safety held at the Office of the Deputy Collector & SDO, Bicholim on 04/05/2026, precautionary measures have been undertaken to prevent drowning incidents and ensure public safety during the monsoon season. As part of the said preparedness measures, “Risk of Drowning / Avoid Swimming” warning banners have been displayed at vulnerable water bodies and risk-prone locations across Bicholim Taluka
Some of the locations where the banners have been displayed include Sal Dam bridge near Madveshwar Temple, areas in the vicinity of Rudreshwar Temple at Harvalem, and certain vulnerable locations in Latambarcem. The banners have been installed to caution the public, tourists and visitors against entering deep-water areas, particularly during the monsoon when water levels, flow conditions and currents may become unpredictable and hazardous. This initiative forms part of the broader disaster mitigation and public safety measures being undertaken by the Taluka Administration in coordination with concerned departments and local bodies. Citizens are requested to strictly comply with the warnings displayed and avoid swimming, bathing or entering unsafe water bodies.
