AAP’S VALMIKI NAIK CONDEMNS ATTACK ON ACTIVIST SHEYTE, ALLEGES ‘BJP-CHE-GUNDARAJ’ AHEAD OF POLLS
PANAJI: Aam Aadmi Party leader Valmiki Naik on Friday strongly condemned the alleged attack on social activist Kashinath Shetye at Merces, stating that “no Goan is safe anymore in Goa.”Reacting to the incident where Shetye, also an Electrical Department engineer, was allegedly assaulted while inspecting mangrove destruction, Naik termed it a “brazen attack” and linked it to what he called the “BJP-che-Gundaraj” campaign.“Last year, we launched the #BJPcheGundaraj campaign to highlight how their leaders are openly using gundas not just to silence those who are raising their voice against the Govt, but further to spread a message of terror among the entire population so that no one else dares to think of raising their voice,” Naik said in a statement. He further claimed that “these sort of attacks will increase now as the elections approach, because the BJP is getting increasingly frustrated that none of their strategies are working to scare, divide or distract Goans who have decided conclusively to throw the BJP out in 2027.”
Shetye had lodged a police complaint on Friday after he was allegedly attacked on Thursday during a site inspection of mangroves at Merces. Police are investigating the matter. The BJP had not responded to Naik’s allegations at the time of going to press.
