NO DOWRY, NO MARRIAGE’: CHIMBEL FAMILY BOOKED FOR ₹10L, GOLD DEMAND FROM VASCO BRIDE’S PARENTS

VASCO: As per the information Vasco police have booked three persons from Chimbel- Merces for allegedly demanding a huge dowry for his son’s marriage from the daughter’s parents. It is learnt that the parents of the boy demanded a huge dowry that included a big sum of money  amounting to Rs 10 lakh and five tolas of gold for the marriage.

In this regard a police complaint was filed by a resident of Mangor Hill, Vasco alleging that the accused had agreed in the initial stage to marry his daughter without any dowry but when everything was being settled the boy side started demanding dowry saying `no dowry no marriage.` However, of late the parents of the groom started demanding the dowry and threatened to cancel the marriage proposal if their demand for money and gold were not fulfilled. The agitated parents of the bride from Mangor Hill went straight to the police station and lodged a complaint against the parents of the boy. Further investigation is in progress.
