Flood-Prone Namoshi Junction to be Raised as Work commences in Guirim
Saligao MLA kedar naik Inaugurated the road-raising work at Namoshi Junction in Ward No. II, Guirim. This work is aimed at preventing flooding and improving connectivity for residents, especially during the monsoon season. besides naik also present weere Shreya Ulhas Naik (Dy. Amarnath Salgaonkar (Co-Incharge, Social Media BJP North Goa), Sheetal Vazarkar (Secretary, BJP Goa Mahila Morcha – State Executive Committee), . Fondu Naik (Ex-Sarpanch, Guirim Panchayat)and residents. Speaking at the site, MLA Niak said the project was a long-pending demand of residents of Ward II.
“Namoshi Junction becomes a lake every June. manyvehicles especially two-wheelers get stuck. Raising the road and adding proper culverts will solve this once monsoon hits,” said MLA Kedar naik .
Panch members said the work includes raising the road by up to 2 feet at critical points, laying cross-drainage pipes, and re-surfacing the stretch. The Guirim Panchayat has taken up the work under local area development funds, with technical support from the PWD.
“For yearsthe people had to wade through knee-deep water. If this is wok is done properly, it will be a big relief,” said deputy sarpanch shreya naik The Panchayat has assured that traffic diversions will be minimal and work will be completed in phases to avoid inconvenience to commuters.
