CM Opens Job Fair-2026 at Verna to Boost Youth Employment

VERNA: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Wednesday inaugurated Job Fair-2026 at the GIDC Hall, Verna Industrial Estate, aiming to bridge the gap between Goan job seekers and industries in the state’s largest industrial hub.

The fair is organised by the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC) in collaboration with the Office of the Commissioner, Labour & Employment and the Verna Industries Association (VIA).

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sawant said the government’s priority is to ensure that Goan youth get employment opportunities within the state. “

Job fairs like this create a direct interface between industry and our skilled youth. We want Goans to take up jobs in manufacturing, logistics, IT and service sectors right here in Goa,” the Chief Minister said.

Minister for Industries Mauvin Godinho said the state is working to align skill development with industry requirements. “Verna is the growth engine of Goa’s economy. When VIA, GHRDC and Labour Department come together, it sends a strong signal that industries are ready to hire locally,” Godinho noted. Present at the inauguration were MLA & Chairman of the Goa Industrial Development Corporation Reginaldo, MLA & Chairman of GHRDC Rodolfo Fernandes, Cortalim MLA Antonio Vas, Chief Secretary Dr. V. Candavelou, IAS, GHRDC Vice-Chairman Deepak Naik, GIDC Managing Director Pravimal Abhishek, IAS, Labour Commissioner Rajesh Ajgaonkar, and other dignitaries. Officials said several companies from the Verna Industrial Estate are participating in the two-day fair with openings for ITI, diploma, graduate and post-graduate candidates. On-the-spot interviews and registration for apprenticeship programs are also being conducted.The GHRDC has set up help desks for resume building and career counselling.
