Remarks on St. Francis Xavier Should Have Been Stopped Earlier; FIR Registered, Action to Follow: CM
Panaji: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said an FIR has already been registered in the controversy over remarks made on St. Francis Xavier and that action will be taken as the inquiry progresses.Replying to queries on Minister Mauvin Godinho’s presence at the event, Sawant said the minister may have been in a “difficult situation” and unsure how to react at that moment. The Chief Minister said organisers must brief invited speakers, particularly those from outside the state, to maintain communal harmony. He noted that the remarks should have been stopped immediately and assured that appropriate action will be taken after the ongoing probe. The controversy stems from an event linked to the Sanatan Dharma Samiti, Mormugao.
