Sahil Dhuri to Lead West Zone Veterans Team; Three Goans Selected for National Tournament
Panaji: Goa’s veteran cricket fraternity has reason to celebrate as three players from the Goa Veterans Cricket Association—Sahil Dhuri, Prasad Patil, and Basappa Madar—have been selected to represent the West Zone Veterans team in the upcoming All India Veterans Cricket Tournament.
The prestigious tournament, organised under the Board for Veteran Cricket in India (BVCI), will be held in Hyderabad from May 2 to May 4, 2026, at the Grand Arena under floodlights. The event is being hosted by the Veteran Cricket Association of Telangana.
Sahil Dhuri, a seasoned campaigner from Goa Veterans and a former Ranji Trophy player, will lead the West Zone Veterans team in the tournament.
The West Zone squad also includes five players from Maharashtra, four from Vidarbha, and two from Mumbai, making it a strong and competitive unit.
Other teams participating in the tournament include North Zone, Central Zone, East Zone, and South Zone. The competition will feature several prominent former Ranji Trophy players from across the country who have represented their respective states and zones.
The inclusion of three Goan players, especially with Dhuri at the helm, is a proud moment for the state’s cricketing community and reflects the continued contribution of Goa to Indian cricket at all levels.
