Mapusa Fire Services averts a major fire after two wheeler garage catches fire at Anjuna
Calangute, April 14: A two-wheeler garage near Lotlikar Bar on the busy Canca-Anjuna road was engulfed in flames on Tuesday morning, prompting a swift response from the Mapusa Fire Services.The incident was reported at 10:06 HRS, following which a fire tender from the Mapusa Fire Station, led by Sub Officer Shri Omkar Karbotkar, rushed to the spot. Upon arrival, firefighters found the garage engulfed in smoke and flames, with several two-wheelers and equipment at risk.
The team immediately cordoned off the area and launched firefighting operations to prevent the blaze from spreading to adjacent structures, including the nearby Lotlikar Bar. Using high-pressure water jets, the crew battled the fire and brought it under control within minutes, averting a major mishap on the traffic-heavy Canca-Anjuna stretch. Cooling operations were carried out to ensure no re-ignition. No casualties were reported in the incident.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an assessment of property damage is underway. Officials commended the quick response of the Mapusa Fire Services team under Sub Officer Karbotkar, whose prompt action prevented the fire from escalating in a densely frequented area.
