Goan Students Participated at Ashtalakshmi Youth Exchange Program in Assam

The Directorate of Education, Goa, in collaboration with Goa Samagra Shiksha, had deputed a delegation to participate in the Ashtalakshmi Youth Exchange Program organized by the Government of India under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).
The Goa contingent comprises 20 students and two guide teachers—Smt. Suganda Pingle from Purushottam Walawalkar Higher Secondary School, Mapusa, and Shri Vidhyanand Gawas from Government High School, Kudchire, Bicholim. The delegation represented the State at the program held at Tezpur University, Assam, from 28th March to 10th April 2026.

The Ashtalakshmi Youth Exchange Program aims to provide students with an enriching platform to explore and understand the diverse cultural heritage, traditions, and lifestyles of the North Eastern States. The program will also facilitate meaningful interaction with local students, thereby promoting national integration, mutual understanding, and cultural exchange.
Prior to their departure, a briefing session for the participants was conducted at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Education, Porvorim. The students and teachers were guided and addressed by Shri Manoj D. Sawaikar, State Project Director, Goa Samagra Shiksha, and Shri Shailesh Sinai Zingde, Director of Education.
The Directorate of Education appreciated participants for a successful participation at the Ashtalakshmi Youth Exchange Program experience.
