Oxford Clinch Title; Yug Yadav Smashes Century
Panaji: Oxford clinched the championship title with a dominant 168-run victory over Future Star Cricket Academy in the ‘Platinum’ final of the 2nd All India T-20 Under-16 Cricket Championship organised by the Telangana Schools Cricket Association. The match, played at the Arlem Cricket Ground, saw Oxford dominate in all departments, completely outclassing their opponents.
After winning the toss, Oxford made a strong start with the bat. Rehan Hubli played an aggressive knock early on, scoring 28 runs off 17 balls. Thereafter, Yug Yadav took control of the innings and launched a powerful assault on the Future Star bowlers. Displaying a fine blend of composure and aggression, he remained unbeaten on 102 runs off 58 balls, including 10 fours. Barhaan Dash also contributed with a brisk innings in the middle order, scoring a valuable 54 runs off 34 balls. Farhan Shaikh added 19 runs towards the end as Oxford posted an imposing total of 214 for 3 in 20 overs.
Chasing a challenging target of 215, Future Star CA collapsed right from the start. Their first wicket fell at just one run, and wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. Captain Gowtham Reddy played a patient knock of 25 runs off 48 balls, but received little support from the other end. The remaining batters failed to withstand Oxford’s disciplined bowling attack, and the entire team was bowled out for just 46 runs in 16.2 overs.
For Oxford, Mohammad Ehtesham delivered an outstanding bowling performance, claiming 4 crucial wickets while conceding only 8 runs in his four overs. Tanishq Naik picked up 2 wickets to create early pressure. Mrunal Naik, Yug Yadav, and Mohammad Abbas chipped in with one wicket each, contributing to Oxford’s comprehensive victory.
