MOG Sunday: The Beauty of Canacona
Pilerne April 2026: The Museum of Goa (MOG), Pilerne, will host The Beauty of Canacona on Sunday, April 12, featuring activist Ramesh Gauns.
As part of the MOG Sunday series, the session will explore the landscapes, ecology, and cultural richness of Canacona through Gauns’ long-standing engagement with environmental and social movements in Goa. Drawing from decades of work across grassroots initiatives, he will reflect on the importance of preserving ecologically sensitive regions and the role of community action in shaping sustainable futures.
A lifelong activist, Ramesh Gauns has been associated with the Rashtra Seva Dal since 1969 and has worked across movements related to environmental protection, anti-superstition, social justice, and youth mobilisation. His work includes collaborations with social and environmental icons such as Baba Amte, Sunderlal Bahuguna and Madhav Gadgil, as well as involvement in environmental impact studies in Goa and the Konkan region.
