Fadnavis takes swipe at opposition parties for not ensuring unopposed contest in Ponda bypoll
PANAJI: April 6 Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday took a swipe at the Opposition for fielding candidates in the bypoll to the Ponda assembly constituency in Goa, instead of ensuring an unopposed contest as a tribute to late minister Ravi Naik, who had represented the seat.
The Congress and AAP have entered the poll fray against BJP nominee Ritesh Ravi Naik for the April 9 byelection.
Addressing a public meeting in Ponda, Fadnavis said that considering the work done by the late Ravi Naik for tenants and farmers, and his contribution in the field of education, the Opposition should have allowed an unopposed election.
