Mapusa: A wood fire erupted behind Wadekar restaurant on the wee hours of tuesday prompting a swift response from Mapusa fire services led by Sub-Officer Shri Prakash J. Kannaik. Crews doused the flames, preventing spread to nearby structures.

Meanwhile in another separate incident at Price Vado, Anjuna, fire services, led by Shri Vishnu Gawas, rescued a cow whose leg was trapped in a drainage pipe at 8:49 am near St Anthony Chapel. The animal was freed and handed over to locals.
