Oxford CC Goa Suffers Narrow Defeat
Panaji: In the Late Rajan Bhai Angane Under-16 Memorial Cup, organized by Aim Cricket Academy, Sawantwadi, Millennium Cricket Academy, Sangli, edged past Oxford Cricket Club, Goa by just 1 wicket in a thrilling league match played on Tuesday.
The match was held at Boarding Ground, Malvan. Batting first, Oxford Cricket Club posted 256/7 in 45 overs. Farhan Shaikh, coming in at number seven, played a scintillating knock, smashing a brilliant century with 123 runs off just 77 balls with 17 fours and 3 sixes. Apart from his effort, Rehan Hubali (21) and Tanishq Naik (19) made modest contributions. Millennium conceded as many as 31 extras.
In reply, Millennium Cricket Academy chased down the target with determination, scoring 259/9 in 45 overs. Captain Viraj Keripale (62) anchored the innings with a composed knock. Parshwa Gare (46), Nihal Mulla (41), and Kasim Virani (35) also made valuable contributions. In a match that went down to the wire, the Sangli side clinched victory on the last wicket.
For Oxford, Farhan Shaikh, Yug Yadav, and Tanishq Naik picked up 2 wickets each, delivering a commendable bowling performance.
Oxford will face PCSC Panvel in their next match on Wednesday (25 March).
