Stop Unauthorized Transport and Slaughter of Cattle During Ramadan! – Hindu Rashtra Samanvay Samiti Demands of Director General of Police

Panaji, March 20 – The Hindu Rashtra Samanvay Samiti has submitted a memorandum to the Director General of Police, Goa, demanding that the unauthorized transport and slaughter of cattle be halted during the period of Ramadan. Copies of this memorandum have also been handed over to the Deputy Collectors of Bicholim, Vasco, and Mapusa.
In its memorandum, the Hindu Rashtra Samanvay Samiti states: “According to Hindu religious tradition, the cow is revered as ‘Gomata’ (Mother Cow). Cows are accorded respect and regarded as divine entities from a religious perspective; however, during the festival of Ramadan, the illegal transport and slaughter of cattle frequently occur in various parts of the state. In certain areas, incidents involving the slaughter of animals along roadsides or in public spaces have been observed. Consequently, there is a potential for issues to arise concerning public health, the environment, and law and order. Therefore, to curb the unauthorized transport and slaughter of cattle within the state, we demand the establishment of special police deployment and surveillance mechanisms; the setting up of checkpoints on major national and state highways to inspect vehicles; strict action to ensure that animal slaughter takes place exclusively within licensed slaughterhouses and nowhere else; and immediate punitive action, in accordance with relevant laws, against any individuals or organizations involved in the illegal transport or slaughter of cattle.” Present during the submission of the memorandum to the Deputy Collector of Mormugao Taluka, Mr. Bhagwant Karmali, were Mr. Ravindra Salgaonkar of Sanatan Sanstha; Mr. Gajanan Patil of ‘Parashuram Gaushala’; Mr. Yatin Borkar of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti; and Mr. Mahesh Nuglas, President of the International Bajrang Dal (Dabolim, Goa). Present at Dicholi while submitting a memorandum to the Deputy Collector were Mr. Bhartesh Gulanwar of ‘Bharat Swabhiman’, Mr. Bholanath Gad of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, Mr. Krishna Marathe of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, H.B.P.
