Margao: FC Goa will look to extend their strong start to the Indian Super League 2025–26 campaign as they travel to New Delhi to face Punjab FC on Monday, March 16, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, with both sides coming into the clash off the back of draws in their previous fixtures.
The Gaurs have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the season so far, collecting two wins and two draws from their opening four matches. Their most recent outing saw FC Goa share the points in a draw against East Bengal FC, a result that ensured the team continued their positive early momentum under Head Coach Manolo Márquez.
That consistency has been a hallmark of Goa’s performances since Márquez took charge, with the Gaurs remaining unbeaten against Punjab FC in all competitions during his tenure so far. As the league begins to take shape, FC Goa will be aiming to maintain that record while also extending their current unbeaten run.
Speaking ahead of the fixture coach Manolo Marquez said: “They train with very good pace and you can see that in their players. Punjab always plays with good intensity and pace in their moments, so for us it will be the most difficult game out of the five games we have played so far.”
Punjab FC, meanwhile, have experienced a mixed start to their season. From their three matches so far, they have registered one win, one draw, and one defeat. Their most recent match ended in a draw against NorthEast United FC, and they will now be eager to build momentum as they return to home action at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Ishan Pandita comments on the season:“Every season is important, but this one feels even more important for me with everything that has happened over the last two or three years. Getting the opportunity to play minutes and show what I can do is something I’m really looking forward to.”
