Wife’s Brutal Blow Ends in Lifetime Behind Bars”
Vasco: A South Goa Additional Sessions Court has sentenced Sandhya Chauhan to life imprisonment for the murder of her husband Kaushalendra Pratap Singh in a case registered by the Vasco Police Station in June 2019.
The judgment was delivered by the Additional Sessions Court in South Goa, which convicted Chauhan last week after examining the evidence presented during the trial.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred following a domestic quarrel between the couple, allegedly related to the husband’s heavy drinking and abusive behaviour.
During the argument, Chauhan reportedly struck Singh multiple times on the head with a wooden scantling, causing severe injuries. Singh, who worked as an aircraft handler at Dabolim Airport, was rushed for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
The couple’s minor daughter was the sole eyewitness to the incident, and her testimony played a crucial role during the trial.
Apart from life imprisonment, the court also imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on the accused. If the fine is not paid, Chauhan will have to undergo an additional six months of rigorous imprisonment.
