FC Goa Looks to Extend Winning Streak Against East Bengal FC”
Margao: FC Goa prepare for a challenging away assignment in the Indian Super League 2025–26 season as they travel to Kolkata to face East Bengal FC at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan on March 5. With momentum building in the early weeks of the campaign, the Gaurs will be determined to continue their strong start.
Having collected seven points from a possible nine in their opening three matches, FC Goa currently sit third in the league standings. The positive run has reflected the side’s growing cohesion. Another result on the road would further strengthen their early-season position.

However, the Gaurs will be without Forward Muhammad Nemil, who is set to be sidelined for a period due to a cheekbone injury. Head Coach Manolo Marquez had confirmed ahead of the previous fixture that the forward would be out for a while, meaning the squad will need to adapt and maintain depth as they navigate the coming weeks.
Speaking ahead of the 3 back to back away fixtures, Head Coach Manolo Marquez said:
“In both my seasons here we did the same points both home and away. Of course we prefer playing at home in front of our home crowd but the team has been competitive both home and away and we are looking forward to play in Kolkata day after tomorrow in front of crowd that is probably one of the biggest in the country”
Forward Abdul Rabeeh also shared his thoughts on the club as one of his favorite football clubs in India growing up and expressed his joy at continuing his long standing relationship with head coach manolo Marquez who he claims has played one of the biggest roles in his career
East Bengal FC, meanwhile, head into the fixture looking to respond after suffering defeat in their previous outing. The Kolkata outfit will aim to bounce back strongly in front of their home supporters and make full use of the atmosphere at the VYBK.
With a 5:00 PM kickoff set to light up the VYBK, fans can expect an engaging clash between two ambitious sides one seeking to consolidate a top-three position, and the other eager to return to winning ways
