MLA Viresh Borkar Ends Protest After TCP Chief’s Letter”
PANAJI: MLA, Mr Videsh Borkar ends fast after receiving the letter from Chief Town Planner. The St Andre MLA , Mr Viresh Borkarr who was on a fast unto death demanding scrapping of 39(A) of the Town and Country Planning Act ended his six day fast at around midnight when he received assurances in written form on key demands from the Chief Town Planner, Mr Vertika Dagar.
The government has agreed to suspend all the changes of Zone cases under Section 39(A) in the St Andre constituency besides Mr Borkar announcing that the chief minister, Dr Pramod Sawant assured to quash all the FIRs registered against all the villagers during the protest.

They also stated that 39(A) section of the TCP Act will be taken up for the discussion in the ongoing assembly session. The decision to call the hunger strike was taken after consulting the villagers present at the protest site on Azad Maidan.The supporters of the movement against 39(A) of Town & Country Planning Act temed the it as a historic moment for Goa and Goans as the government promised to scrap the projects of land conversion in the village of St Andre constituency. After withdrawing the fast he was taken to the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim for checking and from there he was moved to his village residence. Tushar and Viresh both ended the fast on February 27, 2026.
They gave credit to the success of their agitation to the old and senior ladies from the village who were there supporting them from behind during night and day like pillars.
