“Goa’s Freedom Fighter Bala Raya Mapari Remembered on Balidan Diwas”
Assnora: Collector North Goa, Shri. Ankit Yadav, IAS, paid tributes to Hutatma Shri. Bala Raya Mapari, the first martyr of Goa’s freedom struggle, at Assnora in Bardez taluka. The event was attended by Director, Transport, Shri. P. Pravimal Abhishek, IAS, Additional Collector-III, Shri Pundalik Khorjuvekar, and other dignitaries .
Mapari, who sacrificed his life at 26, is remembered for his bravery and valour in the fight against Portuguese rule. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant had earlier announced plans to build a memorial house for Mapari, preserving artifacts related to his memory ¹ ² ³.
