GUJ welcomes apology from BJP zilla panchayat member
Panaji: The Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ) welcomes the apology from Mohan Gaonkar, Sanvordem zilla panchayat (ZP) representative and member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), after he threatened journalist during his speech at a government function in Sacorda.
GUJ had strongly condemned the threat to journalists by Gaonkar and sought an immediate apology on Monday.
Gaonkar later apologised and said his words during Shiv Mahotsav, organised by Department of Information & Publicity, were a result of a misunderstanding. He clarified that he has respect for all journalists and their work in Goa.
GUJ also thanks Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Speaker Ganesh Gaonkar, who is also the local Sanvordem MLA, for their intervention.
