Calangute: A pungent cloud of despair hangs over Tito’s Lane as the once-popular tourist hub is now synonymous with filth and neglect. The streets, infamous for revelry, are now reeking of urine and excreta, sparking outrage among locals and visitors alike. Is this the price of progress or a case of blatant neglect? “This is a shameful state of affairs. Tito’s Lane was once the pride of Baga, a symbol of Goa’s vibrant nightlife. Now, it’s a hotspot for indiscipline and unhygienic practices. The authorities need to act fast and impose strict penalties on those responsible for this mess. We, as Goans, deserve better,” says Walter Lobo, social worker.
Given the situation at Tito’s Lane, questions are being raised about the functionality of the local Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). Locals whisper that the STP’s inefficiency might be contributing to the untreated waste flowing into the streets, exacerbating the foul smell.
