Adv Carlos recommits to making Aldona a model constituency
ALDONA: Aldona Congress MLA Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira on Tuesday said that he was firm in progressing forward with his vision to make Aldona constituency a model constituency, whilst thanking the people of the constituency for having supported him so far.
Speaking at the blessing and inauguration of the renovated children’s park at Tercena, Aldona, Adv Ferreira also called on the people to take full advantage of the newly renovated facility and to spend quality time with their families and each other. The renovated park was inaugurated by Aldona parish priest Fr Tomas Lobo.
“The work of this park was pending for a long time and I’m glad that it is finally completed.
We want Aldona constituency to be one of the best constituencies in the state and by this I mean not just Aldona village, but the whole constituency. It should not be just a place for old people to come and live. It should also be a place where young people can live a good life,” Adv Carlos, said.
He said that it was his duty to deliver to the people and to make good on his promises.
“It is said a bad carpenter blames his tools. I do not believe that you have reposed faith in me in order to say this is not happening and that is not happening. It is my duty to find a way to get it done. I cannot do it alone, but with your support we can move forward,” he said.
He called on the people to take full advantage of the facility.
“There is no point in saying, after someone has died, that we should have spent more time with them. We should spend quality time with each other, while they are alive, or with our children as long as they are there with us. Once after education, they will move out and we do not know where all they will go,” Adv Carlos also said.
He thanked the sarpanch Ashwin de Souza, local panch member Pranesh, local ZP member Maria members of the Church Fabrica and parish priest Fr Tomas Lobo in helping with the completion of the work.
We are going to be having the blessing of the renovated children’s park at Tercena Aldona, at the hands of Fr Tomas Lobo in this connection.
Local sarpanch Ashwin de Souza, thanked the local MLA and promised to support him in completing the rest of the pending works.
“Many a time we encounter red tape while attempting to complete long pending works. But our MLA knows which cogs will move which wheel and ensures that the work even though delayed gets completed,” D’Souza said adding that it was his responsibility to complete the remaining works including that of a toilet, upgrades for the school and most importantly the Aldona market that remained on the list of priorities.
“While thanking our Parish Priest Rev Fr Tomás Lobo and Fábrica of St Thomas Church for granting NOC for the renovation, I cannot forget to mention my son Armando Ferreira Alvares, who was instrumental in pushing me to take up the work and finalising the drawings with my approval and pushing the contractor to time lines to have it completed without delay,” Adv Ferreira also said.
