Comunidade Gaonkars’ Agony: Senior Citizens Suffer Due to Delayed Mutation

Mapusa : The plight of Pilerne’s Comunidade Gaonkars, especially senior citizens, has come to light due to bureaucratic delays in the mutation process at the North Goa Mamlatdar Office. Mutation, the process of updating revenue records to reflect changes in ownership or title, is crucial for establishing rights over Comunidade lands.

Senior citizens, including elderly Gaonkars, are being forced to run from pillar to post, facing hardship in getting mutations processed, affecting their rights over Comunidade land. The Mamlatdar’s office cites the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls as a reason for delays, further complicating matters.

Senior citizen Hyssen D’Souza urges automation of the mutation process, emphasizing the need for efficient, time-bound procedures to protect senior citizens’ interests.
