Sheldon Jackson help Delhi Warriors Continue their Unbeaten Run

Goa, 1 February, 2026: Sunday evening at the 1919 Sportz Stadium in Verna witnessed a jam-packed crowd as Gurugram Thunders faced table-toppers Delhi Warriors in a must-win encounter to stay alive in the tournament. Despite strong efforts with both bat and ball, Gurugram Thunders fell short of the much-needed two points. Delhi Warriors continued their unbeaten run, successfully chasing the 173-run target with four wickets in hand, keeping their position at the top of the table intact.

Batting first, Gurugram Thunders posted 172 for 6, built on a strong opening partnership between Jermaine Blackwood and Cheteshwar Pujara. The duo added 82 runs for the first wicket, with Blackwood scoring 51 and Pujara contributing 58. After the dismissal of both openers, wickets fell at regular intervals, slowing Gurugram’s progress. However, the side managed to regroup and push the total to a competitive mark, ensuring they had a solid score to defend.

Defending the total, Gurugram’s bowlers delivered a disciplined performance, combining early wickets with tight lines to restrict the scoring rate. Stuart Broad opened the bowling and struck twice in his three overs during the powerplay, as Delhi Warriors were limited to just 33 runs in the first six overs. As pressure mounted, one wicket quickly became five, leaving Delhi struggling despite resistance from Pawan Negi and Sheldon Jackson.

In a tense finish, Sheldon Jackson played a match-winning innings, scoring a composed 50 off 35 balls to guide Delhi Warriors to victory and complete the chase. The close defeat marked Gurugram Thunders’ fourth loss in five matches, officially ending their chances of qualifying for the semifinals.

In the day’s earlier game, Pune Panthers edged out Maharashtra Tycoons by 12 runs in a thrilling Maharashtra derby, boosting their points to six to help them qualify for the semi-finals.
