Godinho Tells Police: Go Easy on Helmet Rule for Pillion Riders

PANJIM: The transport minister, Mr Mauvin Godinho urged the police officials do not make haste in implementing the helmet rule for pillion riders in the state along with 2-wheeler rider. This traffic ruled presently prevalent in the neighbouring states like Karnataka.
This is being done to save precious lives being lost during road accidents mostly by pillion riders and this also save pillion riders from getting head injury and he/she remains on the bed for years together and goes into comma. Some these accident victims remain in comma for years and die sometimes recover from comma.
It’s a progressive sign which a Transport. Minister taken it to heart. This could have been implemented long before and could have many lives.
People in the beginning will try to oppose its implementation like a social activist from Ribandar Mr Aires Rodrigues along with others but when he understood the reason he welcomed it.
He also urged the enforcing department since this a Central government rule and one has to honour it once it is implemented. So the transport minister urged the enforcement department to go slow and implement it in phased manner.
He told the RTO officials not to press the 2-wheeler riders right now but wait till April
