Congress to form Govt in 2027; People will choose what is good for Goa: LoP Yuri Alemao
Panaji: In a scathing attack against the BJP, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao said on Wednesday that there is a need to eradicate loot, corruption, and land sharks from Goa. For that purpose, all opposition parties will have to come together in the interest of the people and the state.
Addressing a press conference in the Assembly Complex, the Congress leader said everyone is fighting to protect Goa from land sharks, corruption, loot, hafta vasuli, and criminals.
“As the principal opposition party, it is our duty to bring all opposition parties onto one platform, and we are trying to do that. During the recently concluded Assembly Session, people witnessed how the united opposition exposed the BJP government. It had a good impact; we want to replicate that to protect our heritage, culture, land, brotherhood, and peace,” Alemao said.
“I am confident that Congress will come to power in 2027. Then, we will give people the opportunity to choose what they want and what they don’t want. Congress has always been with the people and has scrapped projects opposed by them. But this BJP government isn’t bothered, even if senior citizens protest on roads to save their land. We saw this during the protest against the Unity Mall,” Alemao added.
Regarding his meeting with Congress leaders in Delhi, he said Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has taken a keen interest in addressing Goa’s issues.
“We briefed our leadership about rising unemployment, crime cases, corruption, land conversion, and other issues that are tarnishing the state’s name. Congress has always worked for Goa’s betterment, giving it statehood and identity. Henceforth, we expect support from the people and our leadership to put our state back on track,” Alemao said.
He said strategies have been planned to win the forthcoming elections.
“It is not just me, the people of Goa want a united opposition to show the Bhrasht Jumla Party, which has destroyed Goa, the door. I am confident that people who love our state will support us,” Alemao said.
