GOA TABLEAU DISPLAYED AT BHARAT PARV, NEW DELHI

The Goa State tableau on the theme “Swatantrata Ka Mantra – Vande Mataram” is being displayed at Bharat Parv 2026, a flagship annual celebration of India’s cultural, artistic, culinary, and spiritual heritage. Bharat Parv is organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, as part of the Republic Day festivities, and will be open to the public till January 31, 2026, at the Lawns and Gyan Path in front of the Red Fort, New Delhi from today.

This year the tableau is displayed at Bharat Parv as per the MoU of three years programme for selection of Tableaux for States/UTs for Republic Day Parade 2024-2026 signed between Ministry of Defence and State Government. Last year i.e. in the year 2025 Goa State Tableau was presented at the Republic Day cultural peagentry at Kartavya Path as per the same MoU.

The much-awaited Bharat Parv, organized amid a cultural extravaganza, celebrates the spirit of India — Unity in Diversity — while generating patriotic fervour and showcasing the rich and varied cultural heritage of the country.

The Goa tableau artistically depicts the freedom struggle of Goa, highlighting the contribution of satyagrahis, the historic Aguada Jail (now Fort Aguada Jail Museum), the Ashok Stambh with a more-than-life-size statue of Bharat Mata symbolizing India’s total freedom, and the statue of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, who played a pivotal role in initiating the Goan freedom movement. The vibrant Ghode Modni, a traditional warrior folk dance of Goa, adds colour, movement, and cultural vitality to the tableau.

Renowned artist from Ponda, Goa, Shri Sushant Khedekar has conceptualized, aesthetically designed, and fabricated the Goa tableau. The design was selected by a State-level Selection Committee headed by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant. The committee was constituted to scrutinize designs submitted by individual artists, art students, and tableau contractors, as well as to evaluate the technical aspects of the designs.

The fabrication work of the Goa tableau was carried out at the Rashtriya Rangshala Camp near Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 and APS Colony, Delhi Cantt-10. A dedicated team of artisans, including carpenters, designers, and fabricators led by Shri Sushant Khedekar, worked round the clock to ensure timely completion of the tableau.

The music for the tableau has been composed by Dr. Saish Deshpande. The costumes have been designed by Mrs. Sangeeta Khedekar, while the folk dance segment is presented by the group represented by Mr. Dinesh Priolkar. The entire fabrication has been executed by a Goan team, with steel fabrication by Pralhad Shilkar and his team, and sculptures created by Sanjeev Shet and his team, under the overall guidance of Shri Sushant Khedekar.

The Goa tableau is displayed under the auspices of the Department of Information and Publicity.

In addition to the tableau, the State has set up a tourism pavilion to highlight tourism-related information and attract visitors, along with a food stall showcasing Goan cuisine, under the Department of Tourism, to promote Goa at the national level.

It may be noted that Bharat Parv has been held in the national capital since 2016 as part of the Republic Day celebrations. The event features a Food Festival, Handicrafts Mela, folk and tribal dance performances, cultural troupe performances, and illumination of the Red Fort.
