SALIGAO: A fatal accident occurred on NH-17 near Mr. Farmer Nursery in Guirim, Bardez, on January 24, 2026, claiming the life of a 77-year-old pedestrian.
According to police reports, the driver of a Mahindra Thar jeep (GA-03-P-8020), identified as Paresh Halanker (38), was proceeding from Mapusa towards Porvorim when he allegedly hit Anand Narayan Dharwadkar, a resident of Mapusa, while he was crossing the road.
Dharwadkar sustained grievous injuries and was taken to District Hospital, Mapusa, where he was declared dead. The police have registered a case against Halanker under sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The investigation is being conducted by PSI Akshay Fatarpekar under the supervision of PI Milind Bhuimbar.
