DIP REFUTES THE REPORT ON NON-FUNCTIONAL OF RTI PORTAL IMPLEMENTED AS MISLEADING
The Department of Information and Publicity refutes the reports and claim as reported in some section of the local dailies that the RTI portal implemented by the Department is non-functional and that the Department is unaware of the issue.
The Department would like to clarify that the RTI online portal (rtionline.goa.gov.in) has been functioning properly. The portal was designed and developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and is maintained by them. The portal has been launched to facilitate citizens in filing RTI applications, first appeals, and online payment of RTI fees.
As per the objectives of the Right to Information Act, 2005, the portal aims to promote transparency and accountability in the working of public authorities. Since its launch, the portal has received 2,634 RTI applications, 424 first appeals, and 34 second appeals. The Department would like to place the record of just upto January 20 2026 wherein the portal has received 170 online RTI applications and 20 first appeals. Thus the report of the local daily is misleading and false.

It is regretted that no journalists contacted the concerned official for information and/or clarification w.r.t the RTI portal before publishing the said news item.
It may be further informed that if any applicant faces issues while filing an application, they can contact the Department for necessary help or write to the helpline email for guidance.
