Goa University’s Epigraphy Workshop Decodes Ancient Script
Panaji, Goa – In a significant step towards unearthing Goa’s rich cultural heritage, Registrar of Goa University, Prof. Sunder Dhuri, inaugurated a Workshop on Epigraphy and Palaeography, bringing together scholars and experts to decipher the mysteries of ancient inscriptions and scripts.
As the doors to the Seminar Hall, Faculty Block B, Goa University, opened, the air was thick with anticipation. The event, a collaborative effort between the Discipline of History, D. D. Kosambi School of Social Sciences and Behavioural Studies, Goa University, and the Department of Goa Gazetteer and Historical Records, Govt. of Goa, aimed to shed light on the often-overlooked field of epigraphy and palaeography.

“Understanding our past is crucial to shaping our future,” Prof. Dhuri emphasized in his inaugural address. “This workshop is a significant step towards preserving and promoting Goa’s rich cultural heritage.”
Over the next few days, participants will delve into the intricacies of ancient scripts, learning from experts in the field. As one participant remarked, “This is a rare opportunity to learn from the best and unravel the secrets of our ancestors.”
The workshop is expected to give a fillip to research in the field, providing a platform for scholars to share their findings and insights.
