Faldessai calls for improvement in water supply to Cumbarjua constituency
Cumbarjua : Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai on Thursday sought improvement in the water supply to villages that fall in his constituency lamenting that despite requests, several villages including St Estevam, Carambolim, Divar, and Vanxim face acute water shortage.
“17-crore has been approved for work on water supply in my constituency and I thank the minister for that. We have tried to augment supply with the help of tankers, yet it isn’t sufficient for the needs of the village. There has been a lot of work done including replacing the pipelines and adding new lines especially to areas like the Kadamba plateau, which are now receiving water for the first time,” Faldessai said.
However, he said that a majority of villages in his constituency continue to face problems.
“St Estevam the pipeline needs to be completely replaced. We send tankers but it does not quench their thirst. Corlim, Carambolim pipelines need to be replaced. The water does not reach Divar, Vanxim in a manner that is enough to help the people,” Faldessai said.
He also called on the minister to ensure that the staff and officials manning the department are given enough time to teach those who replace them the knowhow of the job that they do.
“Very often, due to transfers, the new man doesn’t know the necessary knowhow of how to do the job. In this case, the older guy should be given an extension for at least a month,” Faldessai said.
