‘Sincaraz’ set to dominate as 2026 tennis season kicks off

The tennis world is buzzing as the 2026 season kicks off! Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, affectionately dubbed “Sincaraz,” are ready to take on the court, starting with the Australian Open. Meanwhile, Aryna Sabalenka is feeling confident as she chases her next Grand Slam title.

The season begins with the mixed-teams United Cup in Perth and Sydney, featuring women’s world No. 2 Iga Swiatek and men’s world No. 3 Alexander Zverev. Sabalenka, the top-ranked player, will start at the Brisbane International from January 4-11, alongside Australian Open champion Madison Keys and fourth-ranked Amanda Anisimova ¹.

Alcaraz and Sinner are set to clash in an exhibition match in South Korea on January 10, their only warm-up before the Australian Open. Sinner had a stellar 2025, retaining his Australian Open crown and adding a Wimbledon title, despite a three-month doping ban. “I feel like a better player than last year,” he said, boasting 58 wins and just six defeats ¹.

Alcaraz, who bumped Sinner from the world number one spot, had an impressive 2025 with eight titles, including the French Open and US Open. However, he’s yet to go beyond the quarterfinals at the Australian Open, falling to Novak Djokovic in 2025 ¹.
