“”Saligao Police arrest Uttarakhand Man for Porvorim Chain Snatch”
Saligao: On 25/12/2025, a snatching case was registered at Saligao Police Station vide Crime No. 43/25 under Sections 304(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, upon the complaint of Mrs. Medha Agshikar, resident of PDA Colony, Porvorim, Goa. The complainant stated that on 25/12/2025 at about 08:30 hrs, at her grocery shop situated at Medha Niwas, PDA Colony, Porvorim, Bardez, Goa, two unknown persons arrived on a two-wheeler scooter. On the pretext of buying a cold drink, they snatched a gold chain having three lockets from the complainant’s neck and fled from the spot.
During the course of investigation, the accused was identified as Mr. Abdul Rahman, aged 32 years, resident of Sarai Ajeej, Manglaur, Haridwar, Uttarakhand.
Accordingly, PSI Akshay Fatarpekar along with Police Constables Mahesh Shivji, Sachin Naik, Yogesh Teli, and Sidhesh Damaji were deputed to Uttarakhand. With the assistance of Manglaur Police Station, the accused was nabbed after hectic efforts from his house.
The accused was arrested on 31/12/2025 at about 05:00 hrs, and four days’ transit remand was obtained.
PSI Akshay Fatarpekar, HC Vishant Mayekar, PCs Rahul Angolkar, Vinod Kaskar, and Siddharth Parab of Saligao Police Station, along with PSI Sitaram Malik, PSI Mandar Parab, PCs Hemant Gaonkar, Nitesh Gawade, and Mahadev Naik of Porvorim Police Station, under the supervision of PI Milind Bhuimbar and the guidance of SP North Shri Harish Madkaikar and SDPO Porvorim Shri Vishwesh Karpe, worked tirelessly to identify and nab the accused from Manglaur, Haridwar, Uttarakhand.
Today, the accused was produced before the JMFC Court Mapusa, wherein four days’ police custody was granted.
