“Goa Tourism Steps Up North Beach Clean-Up Drive”

Panjim, 30th December 2025 – The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, took immediate and decisive action upon receiving reports of garbage accumulation at a beach stretch, ensuring prompt clearance of the affected area and restoration of cleanliness. The swift response underscores the Department’s zero-tolerance approach towards littering and its unwavering commitment to maintaining Goa’s beaches as clean, safe, and welcoming public spaces for both visitors and locals.

Upon identification of the issue, ground teams were mobilised without delay, and the area was thoroughly cleaned in coordination with the concerned agencies. Necessary instructions have also been reinforced with stakeholders to ensure sustained cleanliness and adherence to prescribed waste management protocols.

The Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A Khaunte, reiterated the state’s commitment to responsible tourism, stating “Clean beaches are central to Goa’s identity as a world-class tourism destination. Any lapse is addressed immediately, and we will continue to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure that our coastline remains pristine, orderly, and environmentally responsible.”

Echoing this sentiment, the Director of Tourism, Shri Kedar Naik said “The Department remains vigilant and proactive in monitoring beach cleanliness. Swift action, stakeholder cooperation, and sustained awareness are key to ensuring that Goa’s beaches continue to meet the highest standards of hygiene and environmental care.”

Appreciating the Department’s timely intervention, Shri Cruz Cardozo, President, Shack Owners’ Welfare Society, Goa, stated “I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Department of Tourism for its swift and effective intervention in addressing the issue of garbage accumulation across Goa’s beaches. Following our complaint, the Department acted with commendable speed to clear the affected areas. Such proactive action not only restores the natural beauty of our beaches but also reaffirms the government’s commitment to maintaining Goa as a world-class tourism destination. Prompt responses like these go a long way in reinforcing the confidence of shack operators and local stakeholders in the Department’s management and leadership. I thank the Department for ensuring that Goa’s beaches remain clean, orderly, and welcoming for all.”

The Department of Tourism has once again appealed to all stakeholders, including shack operators, vendors, and visitors, to responsibly manage waste and actively support ongoing cleanliness drives. Regular monitoring and enforcement measures will continue as part of Goa’s broader commitment to sustainable and regenerative tourism.
