Drishti Marine Lifesavers Rescue 4, Swedish Tourist Stung by Jellyfish Given First Aid
Panaji, December 2025 – Four persons were rescued from drowning along the state’s coastline during the weekend, even as Drishti Marine lifesavers also administered first aid to a Swedish tourist who was stung by a jellyfish and traced three missing children on Goa’s beaches.
Arambol sweetwater lake: A 27-year-old man from Gujarat entered the lake area at Arambol beach with a group of seven members and after reaching a depth of nearly two metres, found it difficult to navigate the water. Lifesaver Namdev Velnekar responded immediately using a rescue tube and safely assisted the victim to the lake’s shore. The victim’s condition was stable at the time of rescue.
Baga beach: Despite repeated warnings, a family, comprising a 45-year-old and 19-year-old women and a sixteen-year-old male, entered deep water off the beach using a hand-held camera and were unaware of the prevalent rip current at the site. All three individuals were pulled into deep water as a result. Lifesavers Saurav Kumar and Chandrashekhar with rescue boards and Nand Kishor, armed with a rescue tube, conducted a coordinated rescue operation and brought all victims safely to shore. At the same beach, a six-year-old girl from Bengaluru was reported missing from Baga beach. As a result, Drishti Marine lifesavers started a search operation and found the girl in another beach section. The child was safely reunited with her family after verification.
Candolim beach: A woman tourist from Sweden suffered a jellyfish sting and complained of stomach discomfort, while she was swimming off Candolim beach. The woman tourist was provided with first aid on-site, following which she was shifted to Candolim Primary Health Centre for further medical evaluation.
Colva beach: A six-year-old local girl from Verna was found wandering alone during a routine beach patrol at Colva beach. Drishti Marine Lifesaver Captain Krishna Naik brought the child to the beach tower and started making public announcements via a radio attached to their official beach vehicle. Her parents arrived shortly thereafter and the child was safely handed over to them after observing due identification protocol.
Palolem beach: A three-year-old girl from Chhattisgarh was reported missing from Palolem beach. After a search operation, the girl was located in another section of the beach. The child was safely handed over to her parents after observing due identification protocol.
