GOA ZILLA PANCHAYAT ELECTIONS 2025: POLLING CONCLUDES
Panaji: Goa concluded voting for its Zilla Panchayat elections on Saturday , with polling stations open from 8 am to 5 pm.
The elections were held for 50 seats across the state, with 226 candidates in the fray. The State Election Commission deployed around 1,284 polling booths and 6,500 polling staff to ensure smooth voting.
The main contenders included the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ally Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), the Congress-Goa Forward Party (GFP) alliance, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP). The elections were seen as a crucial test for the parties ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
Voters cast their ballots using ballot papers. Food outlets near polling stations remained closed from 6 am to 9 pm. Gathering of more than five persons within 200 meters of polling stations was prohibited
The counting of votes will take place on December 22.
