“Goa Liberation Day Honours: 4 Firefighters Feted for Bravery and Service”
Panaji: On Goa Liberation Day (Dec 19, 2025), four firefighters from Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services were awarded Chief Minister’s Fire Service Medals for Meritorious and Gallantry Service.
– Meritorious Service Medals:
– Shri Neelesh Fernandes (Station Fire Officer, 19 yrs service) – handled major incidents like Naphta leakage, Cyclone Nisarga
– Shri Janga R. Gohar (Leading Fire Fighter, 25 yrs service) – executed tough tasks with dedication
– Shri Aniket A. Amonkar (Fire Fighter, 12 yrs service) – responded to disasters with keen interest
– Gallantry Service Medal:
– Shri Avinash U. Gaonkar (Fire Fighter) – rescued a body from 150ft waterfall in Valpoi, risking his life
