Fracture Veterans Clinch Thrilling Title in Goa Veterans Football Tournament
Candolim: In a match that will be etched in the memories of football enthusiasts for a long time, Fracture Veterans emerged victorious in the 2nd All-Goa Veterans Football Tournament, edging out Calangute Veterans 4-3 in a heart-stopping penalty shootout.
The stage was set for a thrilling encounter, and the teams did not disappoint. Fracture Veterans drew first blood through Parko’s lightning-quick strike in the first minute, but Calangute Veterans responded with a well-worked equalizer courtesy of Marcus. The first half ended 1-1, with both teams showcasing their attacking prowess.

In the second half, Seby’s superb strike gave Calangute Veterans the lead, but Fracture Veterans refused to buckle under pressure. The team showed great resilience and determination, and Sandeep’s last-gasp equalizer sent the match into a penalty shootout.
In the shootout, Fracture Veterans’ goalkeeper John Fernandes was the hero, making crucial saves to help his team secure the win. The team’s nerves held strong, and they converted their chances to win the tie-breaker 4-3.
Fracture Veterans were awarded the winners’ trophy and a cash prize of Rs 60,000, while Calangute Veterans took home the runners-up trophy and Rs 40,000. Individual honors included Allwyn (Calangute) as Best Player of the Final, Sheikh (Fracture) as Best Defender, and John Fernandes (Fracture) as Best Goalkeeper.
