Thivim: A sudden blaze erupted at a residential home in Orchitwada, Thivim, near Roslin Bar, on December 12, 2025, at 19:28 HRS, sending shockwaves through the community. The fire, caused by a short circuit in the refrigerator, quickly spread to nearby electrical appliances, engulfing the house in smoke.

The Mapusa Fire Department, led by Shri Prakash J Kannaik SO, sprang into action, dispatching a fire team to the scene. Their prompt response and expertise ensured the fire was brought under control, preventing further damage. The firefighters’ swift action saved major parts of the house, preserving approximately ₹10,00,000 worth of property.

However, the incident still resulted in significant losses, with damages estimated at ₹5,00,000, including the refrigerator, electrical appliances, rooftop door, and other household items. The owner, Mrs. Cesilia Joe, is grateful for the prompt action of the fire department.
