Raia: In a nail-biting finale, Mount Mary’s High School, Chinchinim, clinched the Regina Martyrum Cup 2025 U-10 boys football title, outscoring Regina Martyrium High School, Assolna, in a thrilling penalty shootout. In the championship match, both teams displayed exceptional teamwork, with Mount Mary’s HS ultimately emerging victorious in the penalty shootout, with their strikers scoring crucial goals and their goalkeeper making vital saves to secure their win.
The tournament, organised by Regina Martyrum HS in association with YWSC Assolna, saw Mount Mary’s HS showcase their skills, navigating through tough competition with a string of impressive performances. They dominated St Ignatius Noronha Xavier HS, Velim, with a 1-0 win, followed by a 2-1 victory over St Anthony HS, Veroda, and a 2-0 triumph over Rosary HS, Navelim, to reach the finals, displaying excellent ball control, precision passing, and clinical finishing.
Their attacking prowess and solid defending proved too strong for their opponents, as they maintained a clean sheet in the semi-finals and conceded only one goal in the group stages. Arjuna awardee Brahmanand Shankhwalkar handed over the prizes to the winners, with Jackson Fernandes in attendance to witness the thrilling conclusion to the tournament.
