Listing For Heritage first Festival 2025: 5, 6 and 7 Dec

The Heritage First Festival returns for its second edition with 41 walks and workshops scheduled to be held across the state over 3 weeks. Organised by non-profit organisation Heritage First Goa (HFG) the events will be held from November 15 to December 7, 2025 to help preserve and popularise Goa’s distinctive heritage.December 5 

Tree Walk – Campal 

Join in  for a tree walk through Bhagwan Mahavir Bal Vihar, Panaji’s children’s park with freelance journalist, nature and heritage enthusiast Arti Das. Learn more about this green space, known for its interesting mix of native and exotic species. Observe birds and the many layers of life the trees support and reflect on how urban changes like riverfront developments and concrete expansion are impacting the ciy’s natural biodiversity.

Shore Walk – Baga

Walk along the Baga’s intertidal zone where the river meets the sea and spot crabs, anemones and vibrant marine life in the tidal pools guided by marine biologist and researcher Nester Fernandes and local fishermen who know these shores intimately, practicing generations old traditions of gathering fish and shellfish.

Full Moon Walk – Panaji

Experience Panaji’s stepped streets as they take on a different charm under the glow of a full moon. Walk past the Church, the old Lyceum and the Fourteen Stations of the Cross marked along the city Learn about the layered history and how these streets have played an important role in Goan society, with heritage hotelier and history enthusiast Jack Ajit Sukhija.

Kaavi art workshop 

Immerse your senses in the traditional Goan art form of Kaavi, created using two pigments. Explore the history, techniques and intricate motifs that define this unique art style with architect, design entrepreneur, heritage advocate, arts, craft and

design promoter Darpana Athale. Try your hand at crafting your own Kaavi pattern, gaining a deeper appreciation for this art form.

Wild Edibles Workshop – Porvorim

Discover how Goan indigenous communities source food and resources from their ecosystems and explore the connection between biodiversity and traditional culinary

and cosmetic practices with commercial photographer, heritage food curator and visual artist Assavri Kulkarni.

December 7

Tropical Garden – Assagao

Walk through an enchanting garden featuring seasonal flowers, fragrant blooms and towering trees. Encounter a multitude of rare and exotic plants while interacting with landscape designer, bonsai artist and green influencer Daniel D’Souza. Admire the intricate details of plants and breathe in the fresh air at this walk, which promises a sensory delight, reconnecting you with the profound beauty of the natural world

Caves Walk – Chicalim

Explore the rich tangible and intangible heritage of Chicalim on this walk, trace its history from the megalithic period to the present day with freelance researcher and human rights activist, Cyril A. Fernandes. Discover ancient underground cave structures, understand the engineering of the Khazan system, visit the heritage site of a 17th-century Church, passing heritage Goan houses and the natural breeding site of the oysters used in old window panes.
