Goa Health Secretary Flags Off IEC Van on World AIDS Day
Panaji, December 1, 2025: Secretary (Health), Shri. Yetindra Maralkar, IAS, attended the State Level function organized by Goa State AIDS Control Society (GSACS) to observe World AIDS Day 2025. The event was held at Panaji, with the theme “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS response”.
During the function, Shri. Yetindra Maralkar flagged off an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Van, aimed at spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS across Goa. The event was also attended by Project Director GSACS, Dr. Vandana Dhume, and Joint Director, IEC, GSACS, Shri. Umakant Sawant, among others ¹.
The observance of World AIDS Day is a significant step towards raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and promoting prevention, treatment, and care services. Goa has reported 237 HIV+ cases between January and October 2025, with the sexual route being the predominant mode of transmission ².
The event highlights the government’s commitment to combating HIV/AIDS and promoting a stigma-free environment for those affected by the disease.
