Aldona MLA Energises high mast lights at Moira Ground
MAPUSA: Aldona MLA, Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira, on Saturday, energised the two high mast lights erected at Moira ground by the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC).
Present for the occasion were Sagar Naik, Sarpanch of Moira Panchayat; Freeda D’Sa, Panch; Estetilo D’Sa, President of Moira Comunidade; Gitesh Maulankar; and villagers.
Mr Ferreira stated that there had been a demand from the youth for the installation of high mast lights at the ground for playing, as they previously had to wind up tournaments early.
“When I was elected, I had held a meeting in this regard and I had promised to undertake this work. I was able to fulfil their demands thanks to GTDC which provided the high mast lights. This is the first step. Maulankar has been the driving force along with the Pirazona United Boys,” he said.
He extended his thanks to Chief Electrical Engineer Stephen Fernandes for his special assistance, and also to Assistant Engineer Rama Sawant, Junior Engineer Madkaikar, and the staff of the Electricity Department for ensuring the timely release of the electric connection.
He also thanked Estelito D’Sa and the managing committee and general body of the Moira Comunidade for their No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Ferreira assured to develop the ground in consultation with the comunidade and ensure that Moira can have a good playground for the benefit of the village and its people.
“Due to their help we could do this. To take up further work on this ground, we will have a meeting with the comunidade and obtain permission and carry out development,” he said.
He also urged the Pirazona United Boys to achieve success in life.
“I want you all to do something in life and achieve something higher than this ground. If you do hard work and exercise, and practise, you can get a routine and you can forge ahead,” he said.
Gitesh Maulankar, on behalf of the Pirazona United Boys and the villagers, presented a memento to Ferreira for taking the initiative and ensuring the installation of the high mast lights.
